The Mix
Mason Wong's new social lounge for mature guests.  Very comfortable and refreshing, complete with open air room with a fireplace.  Conveniently located on L & 16th next to California Pizza Kitchen.

Ella's Dining Room
When we used to eat seafood, we loved their oyster selections.  Great for intimate or large group, small plates or a full entrée.  And feel what you are stepping on... it's a 4" thick Italian tile.

Lounge on 20
Ali knows his small plates.  Enjoy Caviar, Fresh Oyster or even Macaroni Cheese.  You will be very happy without a single glass of wine.

Taste Restaurant
Services are equally excellent at Taste. It is a Twilight-Zone worthy establishment in local restaurant experience.  We witnessed them recognized as one of the top 10 in Sacramento.  Don't forget to order "Mushroom Cigar".

Bodhi Vegetarian House
Currently seeking a new location.  Meanwhile, Anna is providing catering services to those who need vegan meals.

Shoki Ramen House
This is by far the best "hole in the wall" restaurant in Sacramento.  It even beats the best Ramen (Japanese noodle soup) in L.A..  Mayor Kevin Johnson loves Shoki's authentic Ramen. Vegetarian friendly soup stock also available.

Lou Valente at Zen Sushi
The only non-Japanese authentic sushi-chef Takashi can recommend in Sacramento.  His creation surpasses many sushi bar in L.A.  Please mention our name when Lou takes care of your meal.  Please call first as he may not be available on his regular working days.

Andy Nguyen's Vegetarian Restaurant
Both Rowena & I regret our 10 years late visit to Andy's wonderful food.  You probably will never crave meats even if you have no interest becoming a vegetarian.  Very few restaurants can serve this level of satisfaction, very impressive.

También Mexican Kitchen
By far the best new Mexican eatery in Sacramento, El Dorado and Placer County.  Though it is rather evolved Mexican cuisine, it is extremely tasty and well worth the drive.

Adrae's Bakery
Andrae's Bakery & Cheese Shop, the best epi, ciabatta and other hard crust bread anywhere this side of San Francisco.  Great selection of cheese and delicacies.  Have you tried Ventresca?  Well worth a drive, I promise.

Mahoroba Bakery
Well-known Japanese Bakery in Kobe, Japan established their first U.S. store in Sacramento.  Our favorite is "Shokupan" white bread loaf and "Croquet sandwich".  If you are visiting, plan earlier of the day, many items sell out by afternoon.

Ginger Elizabeth Chocolate
Chocolates make people happy.  But if you have not taste Ginger's chocolates you have not yet discovered what true happiness is.  Takashi finds exquisite chocolate from all over the world and very few stayed in his memories.  Rowena & Takashi travel an hour just to get her chocolates and that tells you a lot about her creations.  It's a must especially if you appreciate her European training.

Janet M Baily Ph.D.
She is a medical miracle.  Takashi once rushed to emergency for abdominal pain.  After 6 hours of ordeal and $9,000 medical bill, he was told that he is perfectly healthy...  With no remedies and persisting pain,  he called Janet.  Pain was gone after 1 visit and never came back.  This is one of the numerous stories from Janet's office.

Canines on Main
We rescue animals and sometimes we have difficult ones...  Melody, our Great Pyrenese is our protector yet she could not find any groomer who does not use muzzle.  Jennifer Nixon is a true animal lover (don't need a muzzle) and Melody loves her too.  Very reasonable.  Main Street in Placerville by the bell tower.  530-647-6248.
